THEATRE NURSE MANAGER

Role Summary
Theatre nurse manager is responsible and accountable for the delivery of safe, effective, direct and indirect, patient-family centered care through the continuum of perioperative care to include outpatient/day surgery unit; preoperative unit; operating room; post-anesthesia care unit; sterile processing department and anesthesia services.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provides leadership and direction for the staff in the surgical services arena while supporting and delivering the goals of the department.
• Ensure efficient scheduling and reduction in turn around time.
• Supervises and coordinates the daily planning and implementation of the surgery schedule, activities of personnel in the operating room.
• Ensure adherence to procedure and schedule.
• Oversees Pre and Post-operative patients.
• Addresses all issues regarding patient care to ensure all patients / relatives and doctors are satisfied.
• Acts as a patient advocate and maintains privacy and confidentiality of all appropriate information.
• Oversee the overall running of the department or section in Equipment/inventory responsibility management, ordering, storage and usage.
• Ensure infection control and prevention measures are adhered to and prevention of surgical site infections.
• Ensures the effective delivery of competent, compassionate, and efficient care by monitoring and evaluating patient care processes.
• Operationalizes and participates in continuous quality improvement and risk management programs at the department level in a collaborative manner with multi-disciplinary colleagues.
• Involved in training, mentorship and empowering of other staff
• Monitors fiscal budget to control operational and capital expenditures while monitoring and adjusting staffing patterns to improve unit productivity.
• Ensures adherence to professional standards for nursing care.
• Assisting in endoscopic procedures.
• Maintains strong professional relationships with physicians, patients, families and outside agencies.
Minimum Requirement
• BSc. Nursing or KRN, KRM, KRCHN
• Higher diploma in perioperative training (KRPON).
• BLS and ACLS certification
• Must have a valid practicing license from the Kenya Nursing council
• Minimum of five (5) years perioperative Nursing experience plus a minimum of two (2) years of perioperative management experience required
• Excellent proficiency in use of Computer
• Proficiency in reporting writing and record keeping
• Endoscopy training is an added advantage.
• Certificate of Good Conduct.

NUTRITIONIST
Role Summary
Evaluate patients’ needs to identify their dietary requirements and restrictions.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Evaluate and asses the nutritional status of patients and clients, diet restrictions and formulate a nutrition plan for the patients
• Planning and initiating medical nutrition therapy to patients if indicated by patient requirements and clinical protocol.
• Consulting with physicians and health care personnel to determine nutritional needs and diet restriction of patients.
• Diagnose and manage nutritional disorders in patients
• Develop and implement dietary care plans for all patients
• Give health education talks and provide nutritional counselling for patients and their families.
• Advise and supervise on preparation of all meals ensuring conformance to prescribed diets and the nutritional values.
• Coordinate on recipe and menu development for the different nutritional groups within the hospital
• Collect, Compile, and come up with reports on nutrition
Qualification and Key Competencies
• Bsc in Food, Nutrition & Dietetics or
• Higher Diploma in Food, Nutrition & Dietetics with 5 years’ experience
• Registration and Valid practicing license from Kenya Institute of Nutritionists and Dieticians (KIND)
• Dietary Counselling
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrate understanding and commitment to values of the hospital.
• Computer literate
• Certificate of Good Conduct

HOUSEKEEPER
Role Summary
Provide high standards, leadership and supervision of cleaning and laundry services.
Duties and responsibilities
• Maintaining inventory of linen and other instruments.
• Facilitate and perform regular fumigation for pest control.
• Ensure patients linen and curtains are always neat.
• Facilitate regular cleaning and disinfection of drains.
• Supervise daily cleaning and guarantee cleanliness standards of the Hospital are met
• Supervise daily laundry operations as per hospital standards
• Receive and collect used linen and clean as per the standards of procedure
• Responsible for day-to- day operation and coordination of the Housekeeping section
• Ensure that all deployed resources are effectively and efficiently used.
• Operate all machinery used in housekeeping and the laundry department, washer, dryer, press machine and dish washing machines
• Support all hospital staff in infection control and prevention
• Perform garment maintenance and care of all linen
• Coordinating with the chef and nutritionist in food production
Qualification
• Diploma in Housekeeping and Laundry service or Hospitality Management
• Two years’ experience preferably in a Hospital.
• Good Communication skills and a Team player
• Must be clean and orderly
• Certificate of good conduct
