This post is located in the Ecosystems Division, Programme of Work Finance Unit. Under the supervision of the Chief of Unit, the incumbent will perform the following functions:

Responsibilities

Providing a full range of project financial management and implementation assistance at all phases of programme/project cycle by:

  • Assisting Ecosystems Division, out-posted Administrative and Fund Management officers (AFMOs) in the preparation of new project documents, in revisions of projects and in the closure of projects.
  • Assisting in the preparation of the UNEP Executive Director report to the Conference of Parties in revisions of projects and in the closure of projects.
  • Providing support to the relevant out posted offices/ Regional Seas Commissions; assisting in securing approval from Corporate Service Division (CSD)/Finance.
  • Reviewing and facilitating the issuance of sub-allotments, cash advances and payments.
  • Carrying out analysis and evaluation of on-going and completed projects In consultation with the out posted AFMOs.
  • Liaising with the contributions unit to monitor receipt of contributions for relevant projects.
  • Assisting project managers in the elaboration of resource requirements for budget submissions.
  • Ensuring that the Division is not accumulating a backlog of projects due for closure

Reviewing analyzing and assisting in the finalization of cost estimates and budget proposals, in terms of staff and non-staff requirements by:

  • Administering resources and monitoring budget implementation, recommending reallocation of funds. Reviewing, analyzing and processing expenditure reports from external partners.
  • Facilitating recording of expenditure adjustments.
  • Identifying and resolving problems as they arise by suggesting appropriate action and assisting out posted Fund Management Officers in the follow-up of transactions recorded by Accounts Section.
  • Assisting the Head of the Fund Management Unit in the periodical assessment of the Division exposure to financial risk.
  • Issuing obligation documents, following-up on the status of outstanding obligations through periodic review and prompting corresponding fund management sub-unit on issues related to their constituency.
  • Initiating periodic review of long outstanding receivable documents and prompting corresponding fund management sub-unit on issues related to their constituency.
  • Assisting in the preparation of budget performance submissions, analyzing variances between approved budgets and actual expenditures.
  • Participating in the closing of year-end accounts.
  • Attending to Corporate Auditing requests.
  • Preparing financial statements for projects to donors when requested.

Drafting or preparing correspondence through:

  • Maintaining records related to project management and budgetary matters.
  • Identifying procedures and guidelines to improve the administrative flow.
  • Providing guidance, training and daily supervision to other general service staff within the unit in their areas of responsibility.
  • Keeping up-to-date on documents/reports/guidelines.
  • Performing other related duties as required.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional technical training in the field of accounting, finance and business administration is desirable.

Passing the Global General Service Test (GGST) is a prerequisite for recruitment consideration in the General Services and related categories in the United Nations Secretariat. Successful passing of the Administrative Support Assessment Test (ASAT) in English at the United Nations Headquarters (UNHQ), Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG), United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) or International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) may be accepted in lieu of the GGST.

Work Experience

Experience within the United Nations system or similar international organization is desirable.

Work experience in accounting and Financial Management is desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in written and oral English is required. Working knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.

Major function:

To drive and ensure the safety of staff and WWF Kenya clients including maintenance of the organization vehicles.

Roles and responsibilities:

  1. Ensures cleanliness of assigned vehicle at all times when in use or otherwise and that the vehicle is in good condition before use;
  2. Carries out periodic checks on the assigned vehicle to determine maintenance needs and report accordingly and in good time;
    Maintains up to date records of vehicle fuel, mileage and service costs;
  3. Ensures all vehicle reports are done on a monthly basis and submitted on or before the scheduled date;
  4. Compiles car maintenance log for every vehicle capturing all repair, parts, labour and maintenance details.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND APPOINTMENT SPECIFICATION

SENIOR ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF MEDICAL SERVICES/MEDICAL SPECIALISTS I (OTHORPAEDIC SURGEON), JOB GROUP ‘Q’ –ONE (1) POST-V/NO.3/2021

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities will entail; undertaking general diagnosis, care, treatment and rehabilitation of patients, carrying out specialized clinical care, providing psychosocial interventions, providing clinical services to patients, training, consulting and performing surgeries in various health facilities, carrying out forensic and medico-legal services, coordinating disease surveillance, prevention and control; coordinating health education and promotion; implementing health projects and programs, maintaining up-to-date health information system; monitoring provision of health treatment and care; undertaking health research; and analyzing medical reports.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment into this grade an officer must have:

  1. Be a Kenyan Citizen
  2. Served as an Assistant director of medical services/ Medical specialist II for a minimum period of Three (3) years.
  3. Bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery(M.B.Ch.B) degree from an institution recognized by medical practitioners and Dentists Board;
  4. Master’s Degree in the field of Othorpaedic Surgery or its equivalent qualifications from an institution recognized by Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board
  5. Certificate of registration by the Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board;
  6. Valid practicing license from Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board;
  7. Certificate in strategic leadership development program lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized institution will be an added advantage;
  8. Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution; and
  9. Demonstrated professional competence and managerial capability as reflected in work performance and results.
